E-Ink Android phone promises a week long battery-life

If you’re an Android user like Me then you definitely have experienced a poor battery life at one time or another. Android eats up battery very fast because of the ever growing display technologies, power hungry processors and GPUs. Well, a chinese e-reader manufacturer, Onyx has come up with a solution to make Android smartphone’s eat less battery by giving it an e-ink display.

E-ink display will provide battery back-up like your old feature phones that go about a week on a single charge – that’s quite impressive. However, there’s a catch to the E-ink display as well, it is only available in black and white, so you won’t be able to do anything colorful with your black and white smartphone. As you can see in the image Onyx has already manufactured one Android smartphone using the E-ink display it looks sharp and the display is phenomenal in sunlight. The company is planning to launch this phone sometimes next year. so keep an eye out for it if you want a greater battery back-up then you already have.

  • E-ink really helped in conserving battery life. My Kindle’s power really lasts longer than my iPhone but I always keep a powerbank with me because you’ll never know when you need to charge and there’s no power outlet nearby. I recommend the ADFILIC power bank because it is very lightweight and comes with a 3-in-1 cable.
