Rumor Mill: Apple iPhone 5 and iPad Mini Launch On September 12
The rumor mill is now chock-full of, well, rumors that Apple will be launching its iPhone 5 on September 12.
The rumor started getting some steam after iMore’s Rene Ritchie posted on the site that:
“iMore has learned that Apple is planning to debut the new iPhone at a special event on Wednesday, September 12, 2012, with the release date to follow 9 days later on Friday, September 21. This information comes from sources who have proven accurate in the past.”
Then, several other sites have chimed in.
All Things Digital’s John Pacxkowski is next to confirm this iPhone 5 launch date saying:
“IMore was first to report that the company has scheduled a special event for September 12, and now we’ve confirmed it as well. Sources tell AllThingsD that Apple is currently planning an event for the week of September 9th, with Wednesday being the date on which it will likely be held. And while we haven’t yet confirmed the event’s focus, history suggests it will indeed be the new iPhone.”
The Loop’s Jim Dalrymple who has proven to be reliable with confirmations for rumors like this said on the site:
“iMore has learned that Apple is planning to debut the new iPhone at a special event on Wednesday, September 12, 2012, with the release date to follow 9 days later on Friday, September 21.
Yep.”
Then there’s The Verge which said:
“The rumor cycle this time around for the next iPhone has been a bit unusual — multiple leaks have all depicted the exact same components — but it looks like we’ll be seeing what Apple has up its sleeves come Wednesday, September 12th. Our own sources familiar with the matter have confirmed that date, and multiple websites have similar reports as well.”
Interestingly, the iMore report also says that the iPad Mini will also be debuted by Apple as well as a the new iPod Nano and iPod Touch.
