Fruit Ninja: Puss In Boots – Review

The Original Fruit Ninja game was big hit and topped the charts on Android Market [and App Store as well]. It had a simple and basic style “Slice the fruits and avoid the bombs”. So, everyone loved it. Now gamers were eagerly waiting for a nice sequel to this popular game. Finally, Halfbrick studios teamed-up with DreamWorks animations to bring you the all new “Fruit Ninja: Puss in Boots”. Your favorite fruit slicing game is back with a new hero, your favorite swashbuckler.

Gameplay

The gameplay is same, you have to slice the fruits and avoid those bombs to achieve higher rankings. We are happy that they have kept the style of Fruit Ninja alive. There is no in-game Cat action by the way. All you get is some dialogues spoken by Antonio Banderas [Puss in Boots]. The game is still pretty much like the original Fruit Ninja game with just new modes and fruits.
the game has two completely new modes, Desperado mode and Bandito mode. Desperado mode is similar to the normal mode on original game, you have to keep slicing the fruits and avoid bombs. While the Bandito mode is an excellent addition to the franchise, in this mode you get a series of challenges. You have to complete challenges to advance to next level. Starting challenges are pretty easy but as the game advances so does the difficulty.
Don’t worry though, if you have played Fruit Ninja then this game will be no problem for you. It has still the same gameplay and style just with a new twist. It packs new blades and backgrounds that you can unlock. You can share your scores online. Your unlocked items appear in the Stash menu. You can choose any blade you want, Royal Flush, Normal Blade etc all the blades do the same thing though with different animations. They all slice fruits.

Controls

Simple controls, just like the original game. All you have to do is swipe your finger through the fruits to slice them. Not much to talk about the controls. This game has the most simple controls a game could possibly have. The game also supports multi touch, so you can use two of your fingers to slice through the fruits and score more points. [Just avoid the bombs!]

Graphics

Just like the original title, Fruit Ninja: PiB packs the best graphics. The slicing and dicing looks so crisp and clean, just like HD graphics. The animations look brilliant. Excellent work done by developers on the whole environment and the background of all levels. Fruits have life-like graphics. Blades and backgrounds also look pretty neat. All in all the game has the best graphics a mobile game could possibly have. The graphics really add to the overall gameplay experience.

Sounds

The game has a nice background music taken from the movie. The sound effects are also decent. You will love the occasional dialogues by Puss in Boots himself. The slicing and squishing of fruits is really satisfying, it gives you a joyous feeling. It could use a little more music but still the game packs highly enjoyable audio. You better turn the volume up to experience the full gameplay.

Verdict

Crisp graphics, high quality audio and a very entertaining gameplay. Fruit Ninja: PiB is one the best games available for your mobile at the moment. It is the best time killer out there. It is a must have game for both Fruit Ninja’s fans and Puss in Boots’ fans. The game will keep you entertained for hours. If you are really into fun and casual games then Fruit Ninja: PiB is a must buy for you.
