Signature Partners with Neiman Marcus for Better Customer Service

As much as some analysts may argue that online shopping is the next frontier, the brick and mortar retail market is still alive and kicking. For some reason, much of the new mobile development has been geared towards online shopping with very little attention paid to traditional retail shopping. Hoping to change that is mobile app company, Signature.

Signature is a San Francisco based startup that has recently partnered with clothing retailer Neiman Marcus. They have developed an app specifically for the retailer called NM Service meant to help better the communication between sales associates and customers. To organize such, the app comes with an interface for customers and an interface for sales associates.

On the customer side of things, shoppers are able to browse events and promotions as well as browse through products and favorite ones that they like. Shoppers can even arrange for certain products to be ready in a dressing room upon arrival. Customers may also make appointments with associates and even be notified of which associates are on the floor at a given time.

Sales associates on the other hand have an app geared more towards providing better service. They can view a shopper’s purchase history, both in-store and online. This information will help them get a better idea of a consumer’s taste as well as bring to mind any products that compliment ones they already own. They are even notified when preferred customers have entered the store.

Signature has thus far raised $1.1 million in funding and looks to continue to push into the fashion and clothing industry as that is where its app seems to fit best. However, with some tailoring I could definitely see this being used in the restaurant business.  Signature will continue looking for industry partners and also plans to have an Android version of the app out by the holidays.
