Face Unlock in Jelly Bean Asks You to Blink
Face Unlock was introduced in Ice Cream Sandwich as a unique and secure feature. However, it wasn’t as secure as it was claimed to be. It could easily be tricked into unlocking the phone by showing a picture of the owner. Also, it didn’t lock the phone after several failed attempts either.
Although, Google has introduced latest fixes to these glitches with their latest Android alteration, Jelly Bean. Now, Face unlock features a new “Liveness Check” feature that will check if the person is real by asking them to blink. [Photos don’t blink now, Do they?]. It will also lock users out after making several failed attempts and then they will have to complete the alternate unlocking method like Pattern or Security code.
With these extra new features Google ups the security of Face Unlock a notch. Even though there are certain drawbacks like Face unlock is not as fast as before and there are minor issues with the accuracy as it has two scan the whole face and eyes as well. If you want to set the Liveness check then just check the box when setting up face unlock on your Jelly Bean device.
