The Brydge Between Tablet and Laptop

The iPad is nothing short of an amazing device. Of course that doesn’t there aren’t things for it to improve on. But of course Apple doesn’t even need to lift a finger half of the time as plenty of third parties develop accessories for the tablet to make it better. Recently Kickstarter has become a platform for many of these peripherals to get the funding they need. One accessory that has gotten a lot of attention recently is the Brydge.

The Brydge solves the consistent problem of being able to do work on the iPad when all you have is the touch screen keyboard. Sure it’s nice, but it just doesn’t have that familiarity of a physical keyboard. Brydge not only gives a sleek physical keyboard but it practically turns your iPad into a laptop. The aluminum keyboard comes with a patented sleeve that’s meant to hold your iPad in place. The sleeve’s design gives you great control over the angle your iPad is at, which is a big change from many current keyboards that keep the device in a fixed position.

The accessory also comes with built in speakers that are an improvement over current iPad speakers. The keyboard connects with Bluetooth so you won’t have to worry about carrying around extra wires. And to top it all off, the Brydge makes your iPad look like a Mac Mini and really gives it the feel of a laptop with a touch screen.

Brydge had a Kickstarter goal of $90,000 and has absolutely blown that out of the water. Since starting their campaign they have already raised over $500,000. However, the accessory still has a long way to go as they are still trying to find a provider for the speakers. And even with all that money, there are still steps that need to be taken to get through production and distribution. Hopefully they get this product off the ground and onto shelves; because I’m sure they have plenty of tablet users just waiting to make a purchase.
