Intel Launches First Intel MedField powered Smartphone, XOLO X900 in India
Remember at MWC this year Intel showed a MedField powered smartphone dubbed as XOLO X900? [Funny Name!] Well, Intel’s Chief Executive, Paul Otellini, stated a few days back that an Intel MedField powered smartphone will be launched within a week and He proved it right by launching the XOLO X900 today. The Intel MedField powered smartphone is out in the market now but unfortunately it is only available in India as of now.
The XOLO X900 is powered by a single-core Intel Atom Z2460 processor clocked at 1.6Ghz, PowerVPR GPU, 8 megapixel rear shooter capable of shooting 1080p Video [Full HD], front facing camera, NFC, 1GB RAM, 16GB of Internal Storage, a 4.03-inch 1024x600p resolution display and Android 2.3 Gingerbread. [But an ICS update is already in the pipeline].
Intel has now jumped right into the phone market and trying to compete with the big guns. They have their own phones and their own hardwares, could prove to be a serious threat to companies that rely on Other Manufacturers for their hardware needs. Only time will tell.
Still no words on whether this phone will ever hit the US market. The phone costs nearly $425 and that is a pretty decent price tag for a device with above mentioned specs.
How do you like the new Intel phone? Would you buy a Intel Inside phone? Let us know.
