Google Starts Selling Unlocked Galaxy Nexus on Play Store for $399
Beginning from today, Google has started selling unlocked Galaxy Nexus on the Play Store. According to Andy Rubin, The Android Boss, Google has brought back its dead for a while device store. Now, Google will be selling the unlocked version of the Galaxy Nexus directly to consumers. Better yet, Google has also slashed the price by $50. While the same device is available on Amazon for $450, you can get it on Play Store for $399.
On the downside, this offer is only available to [Yes! you guessed it right] customers in US. People from other countries get a “This offer is not available in your country” message. Rubin also added that Google is looking forward to making the device store available to many other countries but He didn’t give any specific dates or timings.
Well, the $399 price tag for an Unlocked Galaxy Nexus is really a great deal and to be honest it is one of the best Android smartphones available on the face of the earth. You can use this phone with any carriers you like and don’t have to worry about signing any contracts.
When Google changed the name Android Market to Google Play Store, many assumed that this is because google wants to unify all their services under one name. Looks like those speculations were right and Google has been trying very hard to bring all its content to the Play Store.
