Bored with the same old classic Tetris? Let me tell you a pretty neat twist to the original Tetris. Instead of arranging the falling blocks and line them up in order to sweep the entire line, imagine that all the blocks are already down, creating a large square of blocks. Now, what you need to do is to remove an area to match the required block shape. Your mission is to carefully select which area should be chosen, so you can maximize the number of blocks removed. Sounds interesting? If you think so, go and check Taktiko, by Cloudiko.
So here, as I have stated above, you are not dealing with falling blocks. There is still a target shape to be handled though. But instead of carefully selected a place for it to fall down, you have to select an area which match its shape and remove the selected area. Similar to the original Tetris, additional lines of blocks will appear whenever a line has been cleared off. The target shapes can also be rotated by touching it. You are done for when you don’t have any valid area to remove based on the current target shape. There is no timer here, so you should take your time thinking for the best possible move, to score as high as possible.
The game is simple not just in terms of gameplay, but also the overall look and feel, as well as layouts. As soon as the splash screen is gone, you can immediately enter the game scene to play. Overall, the interface looks simple but elegant. In the beginning, a quick animated tutorial will be shown, which can be skipped anyway. As of the current version, there is no other scenes, including something to show the top scorer. I do think it will be great if a highscore scene is added in the next update. It’s just that, I can’t view past scores and the highest score.
One big advantage for this title, is that you can get it for absolutely free. It’s a decent puzzle game, with such a fresh twist inspired by a classic game, and perfectly fit to kill some time. One other suggestion from me would be to add a background music. Anyway, you can grab this right away on AppStore, for FREE!
