We’re expecting that will be a large selection of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) tablets at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas at the start of the year and it seems that that pool of next-generation tablets has just gotten bigger with news that Coby will launch five – yes, 5 – new ICS tablets in the said show.
The news was revealed as Coby Electronics has said in a press release that it will indeed launch five ICS tablets during the CES event this coming January.
The CES – officially known as the 2012 International Consumer Electronics Show – is one of the biggest technology trade shows in the world and will be happening at the Las Vegas Convention Center on January 10 to 13 next year.
According to the New York-based Coby, the five new tablets running on the latest-generation Android mobile operating system will be released during the first quarter after they will be unveiled at the CES.
In a statement, Coby’s Jodi Sally said that “Coby is thrilled to announce our premiere range of feature-packed Android 4.0-powered Internet tablets that will put the world in consumers’ hands as never before.”
“We also are proud to be among the first companies to make available a wide range of the newest, Ice Cream Sandwich-operated units, helping to further underscore our commitment to meeting the demands of a broad base of consumers with innovative products in the hottest CE categories,” the Coby Vice President of Marketing added.
The five Coby ICS tablets to be featured by the company during the CES 2012 will be the following:
- the MID7042 with a 7-inch screen,
- the MID8042 with an 8-inch screen with an aspect ratio of 4:3,
- the MID9042 with a 9-inch screen,
- the MID9742 with a 9.7-inch screen with an aspect ration of 4:3,
- and the MID1042 with a 10-inch screen.
Clearly, Coby doesn’t believe in the “one-size-fits-all” approach.
Nonetheless, the features of the upcoming Coby ICS tablets are uniform, save from their screen sizes. According to the company, all of the tablets will have “1GHz ARM Cortex A8 CPU and offer capacitive multi-touch screens, up to 1GB of RAM, expandable memory up to 32GB, Wi-Fi and HDMI 1080p output.”
According to Coby, it’s new tablets are geared towards web surfing, gaming, emailing and media consumption.
Expect the upcoming Coby ICS tablets to be easy on the wallet as the company has been known for its relatively-affordable pricing.
