LG Optimus 3D 2 Will be much slimmer than its predecessor

LG Optimus 3D a.k.a LG Thrill 4G on the AT&T network might not be the most successful phone but it is not the worst either. In order to compliment it, LG is planning to roll out it’s successor, LG Optimus 3D 2 (Sounds Corny!) next year. The main upgrade that LG has in mind for this new glass-free 3D phone is to make it’s chassis slimmer than it’s predecessor and not to mention other hardware updates like enhanced 3D experience, More CPU juice, updated OS Version etc. According to the company, Lg Optimus 3D 2 will be coming out in early 2012.

Everybody is aware of the fact that LG Optimus 3D is a bulky phone and that might be its only con (lets not mention the 512 MB of RAM). Company hopes to make the LG Optimus 3D 2 as slim as all other slim-phones coming out in 2012 and make it the First-ever-most-slimmest 3D phone in the world.

LG is relying on the 3D technology only and hoping that this would give them an edge over their competitors with non-3D phones. Still no words on other updates like the processor, screen, memory, OS etc but we are 100% positive that we’ll be hearing that soon. Rumors are circulating the mobile industry that it might be running the upcoming and highly anticipated Android 4 Ice Cream Sandwich OS (Mouth Watering, eh?).

Are you going to buy this phone? Do you like the idea of 3D-technology on a phone? Do you even know what 3D is? Comment below and enlighten us with your knowledge.

  • I bought an LG Optimus 3D a couple of weeks ago. I really like it! I also own an HTC Sensation and a Samsung Galaxy S II. Despite both these phones being “higher spec” than the LG Optimus 3D, I’d say the user experience wasn’t much different. The 512MB of RAM, in practical, everyday terms, doesn’t seem to matter at all. The same goes for the dual-core 1GHz processor…which (subjectively) delivers excellent performance. Maybe the “Tri-Dual” technology makes a difference: Dual-core, Dual-channel, Dual-RAM. Whatever it is, the LG Optimus 3D looks and feels just as good as these other two high-end phones…AND it has 3D. I recommend that anyone interested actually give the Optimus 3D phone a try before ruling it out on specs alone. The specs, in this case, are actually misleading with respect to the actual user experience I’ve had.

  • @Steve Thank you for writing such an extended review and we appreciate your love and affection for the LG Optimus 3D, No doubt its an amazing phone, But what the above post really means is that the Optimus 3D is bulky and that would be the only problem with the phone, So we would like to know your opinion, Do you feel comfortable with its size and bulkiness? or Do you wish it was a bit slimmer?

Hi Dilawer – I like the feel of the LG Optimus 3D. Yes, it is a solid phone, but the weight isn’t a problem for me. Would I like it slimmer and lighter? Sure! But in absolute terms is the LG Optimus 3D *too* bulky? No. Not for me, anyway. I accept this will vary from person to person and all I can do is offer my own opinion. :-)

    • Hey Steve!

  • yes..i am anticipating the release of lg optimus 3d 2 which i had read from the leak rumors on the net is that it will be more slimmer around 7mm, 3d will be more excellent in terms of viewing, updated os plus longer life battery..although, i am planning to buy lg optimus 3d now, but probably i should wait for few months to buy the lg optimus 3d 2..this phone will be the best android phone in 2012..but i am hoping that the price is not really expensive.

    • Yes! I will suggest the same, You should probably wait for the LG O3D 2, I assume it is going to be one of the best Android phones of 2012 and will be competing against the Galaxy and Nexus series.
